AION 2 Classes

The nine AION 2 classes span four archetypes — Warrior, Scout, Mage and Priest — plus the newest fighter branch. Every card below carries the character's in-game render, its weapon, combat range and primary role from NC's official class guide, and a straight answer on who the class is actually for — because "best class" always depends on the content you run.

The nine AION 2 classes at a glance

Gladiator character render from AION 2

Gladiator

Warrior

Weapon
Greatsword
Range
Close range
Role
Melee damage / off-tank

Gladiator combines greatsword sweeps with a durable frontline identity. NC describes it primarily as a melee attacker that can step into an off-tank role, so it suits players who want to deal damage without ever being made of paper.

Choose it for active close-range combat where you still soak a hit.

Templar character render from AION 2

Templar

Warrior

Weapon
Longsword & shield
Range
Close range
Role
Main tank

Templar is the shield-focused tank in NC’s class guide. Its job is more than surviving: holding a useful position lets allies attack without constantly dodging, and its guard tools make it the anchor of every hard dungeon pull.

Take it if you like being the one the boss is hitting.

Assassin character render from AION 2

Assassin

Scout

Weapon
Dual daggers
Range
Close range
Role
Melee burst damage

Assassin uses daggers, stealth and positional attacks — NC’s official description emphasizes approaching from concealment and striking from behind. High single-target burst, but thin margins: a missed window is a dead Assassin.

Your pick if you enjoy creating openings rather than holding them.

Ranger character render from AION 2

Ranger

Scout

Weapon
Bow
Range
Ranged
Role
Ranged damage

Ranger fights at range with sustained bow damage. The official guide ties that distance to battlefield awareness: the real skill is keeping a firing position while responding to whatever is moving toward you.

Run it for steady ranged pressure and kiting.

Sorcerer character render from AION 2

Sorcerer

Mage

Weapon
Spellbook / staff
Range
Ranged
Role
Magic burst damage

Sorcerer is the ranged magic attacker with a burst-oriented identity — big AoE windows and heavy nukes. NC also calls out lower health and defense, which makes positioning and crowd control part of the class rather than an optional extra.

Take it when you want the biggest numbers and accept the fragility.

Spiritmaster character render from AION 2

Spiritmaster

Mage

Weapon
Orb
Range
Ranged
Role
Summoner / control

Spiritmaster (the game’s Elementalist crest) fights alongside elemental spirits, combining summon management with weakening effects. The official guide describes indirect damage, status effects and sustained pressure rather than a stand-and-cast rotation.

Play it for pet-driven pressure and control over raw burst.

Cleric character render from AION 2

Cleric

Priest

Weapon
Mace
Range
Ranged support
Role
Healer (dedicated)

Cleric is the dedicated healing identity in NC’s guide — the strongest recovery and protective kit in AION 2, plus cleansing and resurrection. Its practical appeal is the responsibility: watching health bars, pre-shielding burst phases, and finding safe moments to weave damage. The battle Cleric build turns the same kit into a self-sustaining solo farmer.

Pick it to be recruited first, in every group, forever.

Chanter character render from AION 2

Chanter

Priest

Weapon
Staff
Range
Close range
Role
Support / buffer

Chanter is the staff-using melee support whose mantras amplify the whole party — the top raid-DPS multiplier in a support sense. It can heal basic farm runs, but hard content still recruits a Cleric; the two classes complement rather than compete.

Pick it to buff a party from inside melee combat.

Brawler class crest from AION 2

Brawler

Fighter

Weapon
Fist weapons
Range
Close range
Role
Melee fighter (newest)

Brawler is the newest AION 2 class (拳昫 on the Taiwan server, July 2026) — punchy close-range rotations with high tempo. Global-server tuning data is still thin, so expect its standing to move over the first few balance patches.

Pick it to play something fresh while the meta settles.

Renders are the official character art used by community wikis (questlog.gg); the Brawler's published render is pending — its in-game crest stands in for now. Facts for all nine AION 2 classes follow NC's official class guide via questlog.gg and Fextralife, checked 12 October 2026.

Four choices worth comparing

Find the trade-off you actually care about

Most players arrive at the AION 2 classes screen with one real decision to make, not nine. These are the four head-to-head matchups that actually happen in character creation — each with the trade-off question you should be asking.

Gladiator render in AION 2
Gladiator
Templar render in AION 2
Templar

Damage or frontline responsibility?

Gladiator pairs melee attacks with defensive options; Templar centers its kit on shield, threat and positioning. Decide which responsibility your party needs, then compare the specific tools.

Assassin render in AION 2
Assassin
Ranger render in AION 2
Ranger

Close the distance or maintain it?

Assassin rewards creating a rear opening; Ranger works with movement, slows and firing space. The real question is which positioning problem you want to solve throughout a fight.

Sorcerer render in AION 2
Sorcerer
Spiritmaster render in AION 2
Spiritmaster

Burst windows or sustained pressure?

Sorcerer spends health for the biggest nukes in the game; Spiritmaster lets spirits hold the line while debuffs stack. Choose between swinging the fight now and grinding the fight down.

Cleric
Chanter render in AION 2
Chanter

Primary recovery or support while attacking?

Cleric owns the dedicated healing role — cleansing, resurrection, shields; Chanter multiplies the party’s damage from melee range with mantras. Hard content recruits the first and appreciates the second.

Light of Protection does not stack with Undefeated Mantra

Choosing between the AION 2 classes

Match the class to the content you actually run. Group players should weigh demand first — healers and tanks form parties, which is why our AION 2 tier list tracks recruitability per mode alongside raw power. Solo players should optimize clear speed and self-sufficiency. PvP players should think in force multipliers rather than damage meters.

One structural note: dungeon rewards in AION 2 scale with damage contribution, so every class weaves damage — pure "stand and buff" play is not a thing, and builds matter for all nine AION 2 classes. Time your sessions around rifts too: the rift timer counts down every opening.

The Priest pair: Cleric and Chanter

The Priest archetype splits into two clearly different AION 2 classes. The Cleric is the game's dedicated healer — strongest direct healing, cleansing and resurrection, with a battle build for solo damage. The Chanter is a melee support whose mantras buff the whole party; it heals easy farm content but hard dungeons still want a Cleric. Community consensus on r/Aion2 puts it bluntly: the Cleric is the de facto healing class, and its Light of Protection stigma does not stack with the Chanter's Undefeated Mantra.

AION 2 classes FAQ

Nine AION 2 classes shipped at the October 2026 global launch: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, Chanter and Brawler. The Brawler is the newest — it arrived on the Taiwan server in July 2026 before joining the global roster.
The Cleric: basic healing is forgiving, every group wants you, and the battle Cleric build keeps solo leveling fast. Templar is the other beginner-safe pick — slow to kill, hard to blame.
The Brawler, released on the Taiwan server in July 2026 before the global launch. Because it is new, tuning data on global servers is still thin — expect tier placements to move for a while.
No permanent class swap — the choice at creation sticks. Flexibility lives inside a class instead: stigmas (from level 22) and Daevanion board points let one character shift roles, like a Cleric toggling between healer and battle builds.
